1. SUSTAINABLE REUSE OF DRAINAGE EFFLUENT IN IRRIGATED AGRICULTURE FOR INCREASE CROP PRODUCTIVITY

The project was implemented by the Institute of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering (IIDE), Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro. It aimed at reusing the drainage effluent for improving livelihood of irrigated agriculture farming community and developing human resources.  The project was implemented with the objectives of (i) Establishing technology for potential production of different crops and forest plants species using drainage effluent, (ii) creating awareness through demonstration and training of farming community of the use of drainage effluent in agro-forestry system and (iii) Protecting environment through use of drainage effluent on sustainable basis for uplifting the living standard of rural areas.

Key Achievement:
A sustainable approach on the use of drainage effluent for irrigated agriculture has been developed and transferred to the farming community through demonstration, training workshops and published pamphlets in local language.
