Rain water harvesting is need of the hour

WWF-Pakistan’s Climate Change Adaptation Project (CCAP) in collaboration of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation, Mumbai organized a workshop on rain water harvesting at a local hotel in Karachi. In January 2011, WWF – Pakistan (WWF-P) was awarded a project by the EC funds from ‘Environment and Natural Resource Thematic Programme’ budget line (ENRTP). The project “Building Capacity on Climate Change adaptation in Coastal Areas of Pakistan” (CCAP) is being implemented in collaboration with WWF – UK and Lead Pakistan.
The CCAP project intends to reduce the risks faced by vulnerable communities in coastal areas of Pakistan through the implementation of a variety of actions. These include intervention related to adaptation and building capability among vulnerable coastal communities; in addition to promoting integrated water resources management, and river basin management. The project also focuses on supporting governance mechanisms to become more responsive and robust when addressing climate variability and change related impacts.

Overall Objective (2025)

“By 2025, coastal areas in Pakistan and neighbouring regions [will] have climate resilient ecosystems to support the livelihoods / lives of coastal communities”

Specific Objective (2015)

“By 2015, government and community climate adaptation capacity is increased and water governance strengthened, to improve climate resilience of Indus Delta ecosystem processes on which coastal communities depend, supported by regional and transboundary cooperation on adaptation in river deltas”
