Rain water harvesting is need of the hour

Karachi, 27 Jan: WWF-Pakistan’s Climate Change Adaptation Project (CCAP) in collaboration of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation, Mumbai organized a workshop on rain water harvesting at a local hotel in Karachi. The workshop was well attended by government officials, NGO representatives, media persons and local community members. more

Launch of Synthesis Report

KARACHI, Dec 29: As the Bay of Bengal is cooling down and the North Arabian Sea is warming up, the number of tropical cyclones has increased owing to the temperature shifting trend.Data collected from 56 meteorological stations in Pakistan shows a sharp rise in temperature during the first decade of the 21st century, except the year 2005, while a rise of four degrees centigrade is expected to occur within the century in the Indus delta region. Impacts included loss of vegetation, deforestation and irregular precipitation, says a study, part of the Synthesis Report 2012, which was released on Saturday. more

Regional Dhaka Conference organised by CCAP on 16-17 October 2012

Dhaka, 17 Oct 2012: In alignment with 2015 goal of regional transboundary cooperation, World Wide Fund for Nature – Pakistan (WWF –P) conducted a 2-day regional conference in Dhaka, Bangladesh on 16 and 17 October 2012. The event reunited the project associates from Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, and Srilanka, as well as experts in fields of climate change and food security, environmental and resource economics; and practitioners and academics who have expertise on deltas in the region.more

Fishermen ‘taste’ music at WWF concert

Karachi-Cool breeze was blowing, light drizzling was damping the soil giving out fresh fragrance and people were dancing at hojamalo song. As the drizzling stopped, then after a short while moon peeped through clouds and looked at the people being amused on open ground of the village; such was a scene of folk musical night in Bughan village of Keti Bunder tehsil of Thatta district.
