Partnership Fund and Decision Support System Launched

  As part of its commitment to achieve the global objectives in the local context, WWF-Pakistan continues to strive for the provision of institutional support to partners and stakeholders as well as providing the general public with latest information and data on natural resources. In this connection, the Partnership Fund along with Decision Support System (DSS) were launched in a ceremony in Karachi.

During the ceremony, Dr. Sikandar Mandro, Member Provincial Assembly, Sindh, and Mr. Mohammad Ali Khaskheli, the Secretary, Sindh Planning and Development Department, and Mr Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Secretary Livestock and Fisheries, Government of Sindh, handed over cheques to the representatives of the different stakeholder organisations whose project proposals have been approved for grant. In total, 11 project proposals have been granted funding under the Partnership Fund Programme. The projects will be implemented in six districts of the Province including Khairpur, Thatta, Badin, Nawabshah, Dadu and Matiari. Moreover, the Secretary Sindh Planning and Development Department formally launched the DSS web portal on the occasion.

Earlier, the Programme Director Dr. Ghulam Akbar welcomed the participants. He also congratulated the organisations on the approval of their projects while drawing their attention to the importance of the full commitment for the success of their projects. Furthermore, Nasir Ali Panhwar, the Programme Coordinator delivered a detailed presentation on the Partnership Fund while Rab Nawaz, the NRM Coordinator, gave a presentation on the GIS-based DSS.
