August 30: WWF-Pakistan’s Indus for All Programme organized a consultative workshop on environmental journalism. The two-day event involved journalists’ exposure visit to Chotiari Reservoir in Sanghar and Pai Forest in Nawabshah on the first day, while on the second day, a full-day consultative workshop was organized in Hyderabad. Both the events involved a number of journalists from Karachi, Hyderabad, Sanghar, and Nawabshah. The events took place on 28 and 29 August 2008 respectively. The formation of Indus Journalists’ Forum was the main highlight of the workshop. The forum is aimed to promote continued interaction among the media people and writers who are engaged in environmental journalism. It was also agreed that quarterly exposure visits to various significant sites would be organized for the media besides initiating best environmental reporting award.
