Initiatives are taken at Keti Bandar to Produce Bio-fuel.
WWF Pakistan and Qarshi Industries Private Limited Pakistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 24 January 2009 for bio-fuel plantation at 10 acres of land in the area Dr. Ghulam Akbar, Regional Director represented WWF Pakistan while Dr. Altaf Hussain, on behalf of Qarshi Industries Private Limited, Pakistan signed the MoU. Later Dr.Altaf Hussain inaugurated a plantation at a demonstration plot near Keti Bunder site office. The initiative aims to promote plantation of Jatropha and Castor Oil on marginal lands of Keti Bunder as part of an alternate income generating opportunity for local communities. It is a step forward producing bio-fuel to reduce dependence on natural resources for ever increasing demand of fuel.
