Environmental education, grassroots comics training held in Nawabshah

 A three-day interactive teachers training ‘Environmental Education and Grassroot Comics as Teaching-Learning Tool’ was arranged by the Pai site office of the Indus for All Programme.
Held at the Pai site office, the training kicked off on 22 September and concluded on 24 September 2010.As many as 19 teachers including 15 male and 4 female teachers from Pai area of the Shaheed Benazirabad district participated in the training.
The intensive training primarily aimed at building up the participants’ conceptual understanding about different themes of environment such as biodiversity, pollution, population growth and natural resource conservation.
Other objectives of the training programme included: enhancing participants’ knowledge about environmental education, enhancing skills of developing tools and strategies for imparting environmental education to students and enabling the participants to plan environmental education programmes and activities at school levels.
Mr. Muhammad Zafar Khan, Manager Communication and Awareness Raising of the Indus for All Programme and Ms. Nida Shams of the World Comics Network facilitated the training.  
Ms. Nusrat Fatima Kalhoro, District Officer Elementary Education, Shaheed Benazirabad district, was chief guest while a number of media representatives also participated in the ceremony at which certificates were distributed.
