The Royal Netherlands Embassy representative visits Programme sites


The First Secretary of the Royal Netherlands Embassy, Mr. Fred Smiet, visited Keti Bunder and its creek villages. The purpose of his visit was to assess the different interventions and initiatives of the Programme that aim to bring about improved natural resource management through introducing alternate sources of livelihoods and improving the living standards of local communities.

He was accompanied by the Programme Director, Dr. Ghulam Akbar, the Progrgamme Coordinator Mr. Nasir Ali Panhwar, the NRM Coordinator, Mr. Rab Nawaz, and Programme Sociologist Shahzadi Tunio, Site Manager Zahid Jalbani. Mr. Smiet was briefed about the latest conservation and livelihood initiatives of the Programme in the area. He was later on taken to Creeks of village Bhoori and Tippun to see different Programme interventions such as wind turbines, solar panel systems, potable water schemes, thatched houses built as rehabilitation work. He also interacted with community members in the two villages for assessing the especial impacts of the initiatives on their situation.
