July 28, 2010 Exposure visit of IESC members heldKarachi: The Indus for All Programme organized an exposure visit to Malaysia from July 19-27, 2010. The delegation comprised on Indus Eco-region steering committee (IESC) members including Mr. Mushtaque Ali Memon, Secretary Forest & Wildlife Department, Ms. Rehana Ghulam Ali Special Secretary Planning & Development, Mr. Fazal Ahmed Nizamani, Senior Chief Water & Drainage, Planning & Development Department, Dr. Mumtaz Sohag General Manager (R&D) Sindh Irrigation & Drainage Authority, while the Progrmme staff included Mr. Rab Nawaz, Director NRM, Mr. Nasir Ali Panhwar, Programme Coordinator and Mr. Saleh Mangrio, Site Manager Chotiari. The purpose of the visit was to increase partners understanding of the G200 and ecoregion conservation approaches, especially the steering committee members, who because of their presence on the committee play a very important role in guiding and advising the Programmes implementation. In Malaysia, the delegation visited Kuala Selangor Nature Park (KSNP), where they got briefing and exchange session on KSNP experience in conservation and preservation of wetlands. They also visited Turtle conservation center, River terrapins and met local communities. In Fraser’s hill, the delegation was given presentation on community education, engagement and protected areas.
