University of Sindh and WWF sign MoU on environmental conservation

 

Hyderabad : The Univeristy of Sindh Jamshoro and Worldwide fund for Nature-Pakistan (WWF Pakistan) have come together to address environmental and developmental issues in Sindh. Mr. Mazhar
ul Haq Siddiqui, Vice Chancellor University of Sindh Jamshoro and Dr. Ghulam Akbar, Regional Director, WWF Pakistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of their respective organizations at Jamshoro campus on Saturday aiming at building and strengthening long-term collaboration between the two organizations by extending
technical and institutional support to each other to achieve this goal. On this occasion, Nasir Ali Panhwar, Dr. Altaf Abro and Rab Nawaz from WWF were present, while from University of Sindh Dr. M.Yar Khuhawar, Dr. Tahir Rajput, Dr. Ali Murtaza Dharejo, Mushtaqe Baloch and others were present. Speaking on the occasion the Vice Chancellor
Mr. Siddiqui emphasized the need to enhance interaction between academia and conservation organization for the conservation of natural resources. Dr. Ghulam Akbar Director WWF informed that WWF would develop linkages between University of Sindh and Southwest Forestry University China. This would enable both Universities to have exchange programme of faculty as well as students. Initially, both the organizations will extend technical and institutional support for the conservation activities under Indus for All Programme of WWF in Sindh Province. The Memorandum of Understanding aims at building and strengthening long term collaboration between WWF-Pakistan and University of Sindh Jamshoro.
They would collaborate in research and information sharing regarding conservation and natural resource management subjects especially those about the Indus Ecoregion. Collaborate in joint initiatives, experience sharing regarding celebration of environmental events and exposure visits. Both the parties agree to support public awareness activities environmental days & wildlife and bio-diversity day etc organized by University of Sindh, Jamshoro and or WWF-P. Conduct a regular exchange of information on each other’s activities of mutual interest; both organizations shall acknowledge each other in the relevant reports and publications pertaining to different joint
initiatives; Both organizations will share their data and publications related to conservation activities and shall acknowledge use of such data.
